2019 Trades Women Build Nations Conference: Minneapolis

funding Application

With generous support from our partners at the NoVo Foundation and Tools & Tiaras, we are pleased to announce that we will be sending a CWC delegation to the 2019 Trades Women Build Nations Conference, held October 4-6 in Minneapolis, MN at the Hilton Minneapolis. Community building and leadership development are at the heart of our coalition. Sending workers to this conference supports each individual directly, creates more opportunities and outlets for tradeswomxn to participate in their unions and advocate for themselves, and shores up a solid pipeline of high-paying building trades jobs for womxn.

If you would like to apply for funding to attend this conference, please fill out the form below. In order to broaden our community of trades union activists, we are giving preference to workers from under-represented trades, like Insulators, Roofers, Cement Masons, Boilermakers, etc., and to first-time conference goers, regardless of how long you've been in the trades.

Are you able to attend the 2019 Trades Women Build Nations Conference (Oct 4-6, 2019)? *
If you are selected, we will book you on a morning flight Friday and a late afternoon flight on Sunday.
As a condition of receiving financial sponsorship, I agree to participate in: 1 pre-conference meeting (Sep 23), the CWC social gathering (Oct 4) on the first night of TWBN, the Oct 21 NYCCWC membership meeting (for debrief and report back to funders), and at least 3 NYCCWC-related events during 2019-2020. *
Sponsorship for this conference costs only your time and commitment to the tradeswoman community. We ask that you push yourself further in developing your own leadership skills in your union or trade, and that you help us expand as a grassroots Coalition by committing to mentoring other tradeswomen, passing along skills to trade sisters, and/or showing up to rallies, events, or community board meetings, etc.
I understand that, if I am selected to receive a scholarship to attend this conference, I will attend it IN FULL. *
You are expected to gather materials from and report back on the 3 workshops you attended during the conference.

Please indicate if you have a medical reason why you cannot share a hotel room with a fellow tradesperson (matching your gender). *
In order to stretch scholarship dollars further, our budget allows funding for half a hotel room per person. We find this is also the best way to bond with your fellow tradesperson, but if you have a medical reason why you cannot share a hotel room, please let us know.
We collect the following data to ensure equal opportunities for underrepresented groups in positions of leadership. As this is a leadership development conference, we especially encourage leaders and leaders-to-be from underrepresented groups to apply for funding.
